Lower Dolpo Trekking

Lower Dolpo TrekkingLower Dolpo Trek goes over Kaguara La (5,115meters), Baga La (5090 meters) and Numa La (5360 meters), where “La” is Pass in the local dialect, passing the deep blue, crystal clear glacial Phoksundo lake and ends at the village of Juphal. The Lower Dolpo is a minimum 20 days trek and is a relatively easy trail but challenging enough just to make the experience worthwhile.  Shorter treks are also available for those with less time and experience and to build the confidence to tackle the full trek on a later date.
The flora and fauna are some of the rarest in the world and you have a higher chance of encountering the snow wolves, Blue Sheep, Mountain Goats, and the ever elusive and legendary Snow Leopard than other tourists or fellow hikers. The pristine and magnificent snow capped mountains, deep gorges and valleys will take your breath away by their calm and unspoiled beauty that has seen eons of human generations awed and humbled by their presence. The trek is a naturalist’s wonderland with human contacts to a minimum and only the presence of nature’s gift to mankind and gives the name “Bu Yul”, the Hidden Land, a true meaning.
